Effective January 1st, 2024 employers with 100 or more employees during the previous calendar year in certain high-hazard industries will now be required to not only submit their OSHA Form 300A information electronically but additionally their Form 300 and Form 301 information as well.

A listing of industries covered under this new category can be found by clicking here.

This new category (which covers several types of manufacturers, transportation and distribution, agriculture, certain wholesalers, certain health care and human service services and more) is in addition to the following employer groups who already must submit their Form 300A information electronically to OSHA:

  • Establishments with 250 or more employees (at any time during the previous calendar year) in industries covered by the OSHA recordkeeping regulation.
  • Establishments with 20 to 249 employees (at any time during the previous calendar year) in specific high-risk industries identified by OSHA.

The data must be electronically submitted through OSHA’s Injury Tracking Application (ITA). There are 3 ways to submit the data:

  • Webform on the ITA,
  • Submission of a csv file to the ITA, or
  • Use of an application programming interface (API) feed.

The ITA opened on January 2nd and covered employers are required to submit their information by March 2, 2024.

According to OSHA, they will use the information “to interact directly with these establishments, through enforcement and/or outreach activities, to address and abate the hazards and improve worker safety and health.”
